When does Advent 2026 start?

The first Sunday of Advent 2026 is November 29. This devotional runs from December 1 through December 24 (Christmas Eve). Some families begin on the first Sunday and stretch to 28 days — either works.

Is this Advent devotional Catholic or Protestant?

Both. Every verse focuses on the Nativity narrative shared across Catholic, Evangelical, and Non-denominational traditions. There is no denomination-specific doctrine — this works for a Catholic parish, an evangelical Sunday school, and a homeschool co-op alike.

This 24-day Advent devotional was built for tired parents who want to hold the Nativity in front of a 3-8 year old for just five minutes a night — no craft supplies, no complicated liturgy, one Bible verse a day.

Why we made this instead of using an off-the-shelf Advent calendar

Most Advent calendars sold in 2026 are either chocolate-only (no scripture) or heavy on liturgy that goes over a preschooler's head. Both miss the point for the 3-8 window: the child is old enough to hear the story but still needs it in NIrV-level English, in five-minute chunks, with one clear image per day. That's what this plan does.

Isaiah 9:2 (NIrV): "The people who are now living in darkness will see a great light."

Question: What does light do at bedtime? · Prayer: "Jesus, be our light this Christmas. Amen."

Day 2 · Dec 2 A special baby is coming

Isaiah 7:14 (NIrV): "The virgin will be with child. She will give birth to a son. And he will be called Immanuel."

Day 3 · Dec 3 A little town

Micah 5:2 (NIrV): "But you, Bethlehem, though you are small among the tribes of Judah, out of you will come a ruler."
