Three devos hit patience: 'Abraham Waited a Long Time', 'God's Timing Is Best', and 'Patience Is a Fruit of the Spirit'. The Abraham devo introduces the concept that grown-ups wait for God too — my 5-year-old was quietly stunned by that. Weakness: doesn't cover the specific meltdown-in-the-grocery-line moment. That's Waiting Is Not Easy territory.
#2 — Waiting Is Not Easy! (Mo Willems)
Best for: Ages 3-7, the meltdown book. Format: Hardcover 64p (Elephant & Piggie). Translation: N/A (secular).
Piggie tells Gerald there's a surprise coming. He has to wait. He hates it. He complains. He melts down. And then — the surprise, which is unforgettable, arrives. Every parent of a small child needs this book. Kids see themselves and laugh. The whole book is 5 minutes.
#3 — The Jesus Storybook Bible (Sally Lloyd-Jones)
Best for: Ages 4-8, the whole Bible as one waiting story. Format: Hardcover 352p. Translation: conversational retelling.
Sally Lloyd-Jones re-narrates the entire Bible as one long wait for the Rescuer. Every story ends with 'they didn't know it yet, but Someone was coming.' Reading it teaches patience by osmosis — the whole book is about waiting. Not a patience book explicitly, but the finest kids Bible in print.

Best for: Ages 3-6, wordless-almost picture book. Format: Hardcover 32p. Translation: N/A.
A boy and his mom rush to the train. He says 'wait' to notice the world around them. She says 'hurry'. The whole book is that tension. Beautiful, quiet, unusual. Not overtly Christian but the sabbath echo is loud.

Best for: Ages 0-3, planting the earliest seed. Format: Board book. Translation: NIrV.
Toddlers can't 'do' patience — but they can hear 'wait' as a word not a punishment. Tiny Seeds includes 'Wait a Little While' as a devo just for that. Won't fix a tantrum, but starts the vocabulary early.
