A little story
When you smile, God sees it. When you cry, God sees it. When you play with your toys quietly on the rug, God is watching over you like a good father watches his baby.
You are never alone. Even when Mommy is in another room. Even when it is dark. God sees you and loves you.
Something to ask your little one
"Do you know who is watching over you all day and all night?"

When My Heart Feels Big

A real-life moment
Sometimes your heart feels big. Not big like a birthday-cake happy — big like something is sitting on your chest. Maybe your friend was mean at recess. Maybe your brother said your drawing was ugly. Maybe you don't even know why.
That big feeling has a name. It is called sadness. And here is a secret about sadness: God does not run away from it. He sits closer. He gets so close that the Bible says he saves people whose hearts are crushed.
You do not have to hide your big feelings from God. He already sees them. And he is not scared of them.
A question to talk about
What is one time this week your heart felt too big? Can you tell God about it right now?
God, my heart feels big sometimes.

The Question You're Afraid to Ask

Real talk
Here is a question a lot of kids your age start asking around now: is God really real?
You may be afraid to ask it out loud. You may worry that asking it makes God angry. Or that your parents will be sad. Or that you're doing faith wrong.
Here is the truth: asking a hard question about God is not a betrayal. It is a beginning.
The Bible is full of people who asked hard questions. David asked God why he felt alone. Job asked God why bad things happened to good people. Even Jesus, on the cross, asked "why have you left me?" (Matthew 27:46). God did not shame any of them. He came closer.
James 4:8 does not say if you feel certain, God will come near. It says come near. That means bring the whole you — including the doubt. Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Indifference is.
Something to think about (or write down)
What is one honest question about God you have not asked out loud yet? Write it in a journal or say it to a trusted adult this week. You are not alone in asking it.
God, I want to be honest with you.
Here is a question I have been afraid to ask: [say it].
Please come close and help me trust you with it. Amen.
